WIE WIR UNS RASSISMUS BEIBRINGEN
Wir alle denken rassistisch, sagt Gilda Sahebi. Mit Extremismus habe das aber nichts zu tun. Sondern es sei Konsequenz politischer und gesellschaftlicher Strukturen, die unser Denken und unser Handeln formen. Wo Mehrheits- und Minderheitsgesellschaften aufeinandertreffen, bilden sich fast zwangsläufig rassistische Denkmuster und Strukturen – außer man steuert bewusst dagegen. In Deutschland tut man das nicht. Lieber empört man sich, als eine ernsthafte Debatte zu führen und tatsächliche Probleme zu lösen.
In ihrem Buch „Wie wir uns Rassismus beibringen“ – eine Analyse deutscher Debatten, (S.Fischer Verlag, März 2024) analysiert die im Iran geborene Ärztin, Politikwissenschaftlerin und Journalistin Gilda Sahebi die Spezifika des deutschen Rassismus. Dafür blickt sie zurück bis ins Deutsche Kaiserreich und verfolgt die roten Fäden rassistischen Denkens, die sich von damals bis in die Debatten unserer Gegenwart – etwa um die Staatsbürgerschaft, den Nahostkonflikt oder Migration – ziehen. Nach dem 7. Oktober und angesichts der hitzigen Proteste in Deutschland schrieb sie in der Taz: „Auch die Story vom „importierten“ Antisemitismus lebt von diesem rassistischen Narrativ. Der Antisemitismus ist nicht „importiert“; diese Menschen sind „unser“ Land.“
Gilda Sahebi, im Iran geboren und in Deutschland aufgewachsen, ist ausgebildete Ärztin und studierte Politikwissenschaftlerin. Sie arbeitet als freie Journalistin mit den Schwerpunkten Antisemitismus und Rassismus, Frauenrechte, Naher Osten und Wissenschaft. Sie ist Autorin für die »taz« und den »Spiegel« und arbeitet unter anderem für die ARD.
Tessa Szyszkowitz, Falter-Kolumnistin und Autorin, war Korrespondentin in Moskau, Brüssel, Jerusalem, London. Kuratorin der Reihe Philoxenia im Kreiskyforum, Senior Associate Fellow Royal United Services Institute in London.
